James has worked as a game and level designer in the industry for 17 years and is currently Principal Technical Level Designer at Sumo Newcastle. He has previously worked on Grand Theft Auto 4, several Assassin’s Creed titles, Tom Clancy’s The Division, and – of course – Hood: Outlaws & Legends.

Level Design from Prototype to Shipping
Hood: Outlaws & Legends was the opportunity for a small team to create a brand-new IP for Sumo. We aimed to move fast, test often, and react quickly to problems. In this talk, James will discuss the level design processes, tools and techniques used when developing the game, from the earliest days of the project until it shipped, along with some of the pitfalls the team encountered and successes they achieved along the way.
